Oldbury Repertory Players present their 67th season of productions for 2006/07.
Perfect Pitch
Life will never be the same for slightly dull and snobby middle class Ron and Yvonne after
their first caravan holiday turns into something of a nightmare when young and brash
working class couple Steph and Grant arrive next door.
The caravan site becomes anything but a "perfect pitch" as the couples go head to head
in this comedy of holiday horrors by the author of "Bouncers" and "Shakers"
23 - 30 September
Absurd Person Singular
When two strangers start talking on a train they agree that "some people are better off
dead". Only later does the chilling realisation occur that one of them was serious about
theit exchange of murders.
Based on the powerful thriller by Patricia Highsmith "Strangers On a Train" was famously
filmed by Alfred Hitchcock.
11 - 18 November
The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe
Come with us through the wardrobe with Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy. Here they
encounter the wicked White Witch and the noble lion Aslan, king of all the beasts who
enlists thier help to fight the Witches evil spell that has plunged Narnia into permenent
winter.
A Seasonal treat for all the family that is not to be missed.
10 - 20 January
84 Charing Cross Road
In 1949 a struggling American writer started a correspondence with a firm of London booksellers that was to last twenty years. This compassionate and warm exchange of letters became a best seller and a successful film staring Anthony Hopkins and Anne Bancroft. The skilful adaptation offers an evening of enchantment and charm as the life stories of Helen Hanff and the staff of the bookshop unfold on stage.
10 - 17 March
ART
The purchase of a hugely expensive modern painting causes a rift in the friendship or Serge
and Marc, Yvan attempts to placate both parties with hilarious results.
Winner of an Evening Standard Award for best comedy "ART" had a hugely successful run
in the West End, on Broadway and on a nationwide tour. It is a funny, invigorating yet
poignant explortion of friendship.
12 - 19 May
Are you Being Served
To the delight of its fans everywhere this popular T.V. show is brought to the stage by its
creators. The motley crew of Grace Brothers prepare for a sale of German goods and then
depart for the staff holiday at a one star hotel in Spain.
Will Mr Humphries remain free and will Mrs Slocombe ever find her pussy in this
end of season romp.
7 - 14 July
Whilst every effort is made to present the productions as listed, there are occasional circumstances beyond our control which may necessitate a change to the published programme.
Performances begin at 7:30pm unless otherwise stated. To avoid disappointment patrons are reminded that latecomers may not be admitted until a suitable point in the performance. Patrons are also requested to switch off all mobile phones, pagers and silence alarm watches when in the auditorium.
We would like to also remind patrons that we have extended out NO SMOKING policy to include all areas of the theatre including the bar and foyer. We appreciate the support of all out members and audiences and hope for your help and co-operation for maintaining this policy.
