Reviews:
Superb tale of revenge.
John Slim
Praise cannot come to highly for the tautness and tension that Stephen Downing's fine production maintains in Ariel Dorfman's thriller with the South American setting. Paulina's husband brings home a stranger who has helped him when his car has broken down - and she is horrified, because she insists that this is the man who tortured and raped her 15 years ago. Three superb performances handle both quick fire dialogue and difficult silences. Concentration never wavers. In its studio setting, this is a drama that enfolds with its intimacy and rivets with its roller coaster relationships. Louise Henwood is superb in her single-minded pursuit of vengeance. Chris Thomas, as her husband, and Geoff Poole as the luckless stranger, excel as they suffer in their separate ways from her unwavering mission. She is as remorseless as the sea we hear beyond the beach house - a sound that prompts the only raised eyebrow, because those crashing waves seem to be arriving far more quickly than they do ar Blackpool.
